Casa Ave
On a plot in an urban development under construction, the casa ave was my first sole creation of a building produced as an object taking into consideration its own internal and external limits thus giving meaning to its surroundings. Perhaps this is why the material selected was exposed concrete, taking advantage of its structural capacity and its plasticity, albeit in an experimental form, in dialogue with the brickwork on the hidden concrete structure, the most common and affordable building material in Portugal today.
The programme, developed in close cooperation with the clients, results in what would be the last house of a charming unconventional couple ready for retirement, and was an overlapping of volumes that include more sophisticated living spaces and other more modest and smaller spaces, including service areas and corridors for everyday use.
