Casa Verde
In an isolated house, in which pre-existence would take us to another time, its garden perfumed by leafy wisteria and banana trees was intensely green - in the consolidated centre of Algés, as if it were an oasis.
Inside, the silky touch of Venetian stucco, the wooden shutters with three narrow, tall leaves, the delicate electricity with visible braided cables and porcelain switches, the cubic geometry of each room, the sunlight filtering through the colourful garden vegetation, raised this semi-exotic environment - a former holiday home for Lisboners - to a space that today carries the weight of another type of spatial nobility, a unique and perfect space for the daily life of such a dear and unique family.
Having said this, it will be difficult to explain the effort that went into intervening, rebuilding, trying to preserve what seemed exemplary and already existed there, imprinting on each architectural intention the greatest of paradoxes: delicacy and strength. It was with this principle in mind that the Casa Verde was redesigned: still respecting its pre-existence, we refused an ambiguous attitude and renewed its entire identity.
